I've seen this trick with dishwasher soap. Basically it prevents paint from sticking to a surface, so once you wipe it off after spraying over these patterns, thát is what you'll get. Probably some sort of paraffin / wax would work too if it's just viscous enough.

Did you spray off the substrate you used for the stripes (white substance)?
